Specific course information
Brief description  :

This course contains the overview of civil engineering building with steel as main material, types of steel used in civil engineering structure. Mechanical properties of steel.

Design and analysis of tension and compression beam element. Types of structural steel connections, bolted connection and welded connection. Design and analysis of flexural member including types of profiles to be used. Design and analysis of single column, compound column, and beam-column in multi-story building.

Specific goals of the course
Specific outcomes :

The students are expected to be able to understand the use of steel in civil engineering building structures, design method and element analysis including brief description in the implementation of steel structure element.

Student outcomes :

(a) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering in civil engineering fields

(c) An ability to design a system, component, or process in order to be able to face the real constraints in economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
