A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Faculty of Engineering UGM and International Consultant Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (NK) On Thursday (1/24), at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Gadjah Mada (CEED UGM). This event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Head of the International Cooperation Unit and Academic Staffs of CEED UGM. Meanwhile from Nippon Koei, Mr. Tomonori Sakashita as Chief Representatives, and several company officials. NK has been more than 60 years in Indonesia, especially in the construction of dams, hydropower and reservoirs. According to Mr. Tomonori Sakashita, the MoU is the first collaboration between NK and University in Indonesia. read more

Safety is our common responsibility, including traffic safety. Various efforts were made to reduce accident rates and increase the safety for road user. One of the most vulnerable road users are children.
Children tend to imitate what they have seen and done by adults around them. Therefore, it is important for parents and adults to set a good example in driving and traffic rules.
As an efforts to increase awareness on traffic rules and emphasize its importance for road safety, Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with Gachon University, Regional Police Office of DIY, Transportation Agency of DIY, KPAI, and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation held a Dialogue and Child Traffic Safety Talk show “Stop Traffic Rules Violations, Prevent Accidents, Save the Children as Our Future Generation’. read more

UGM Centre for Occupational Security, Safety, Health, and Environment (PK4L) has once again established cooperation with Sleman Transportation Agency related to socialisation of traffic safety.
As many as 60 people participate in the event, coming from PK4L, Gama Medical Center, Academic Hospital, faculties, etc.
Head of PK4L, Arif Nurcahyo, S.Psi., M.A., said traffic was one of important aspects of life. Disruption in this case will disrupt others, too.
“At least, economic distribution will be affected, education and goods distribution, too,” he said in Auditorium of Faculty of Forestry UGM on Wednesday (25/7). read more

The world has now entered the fourth industrial revolution with emphasis on digital economy, artificial intelligence, big data, robotic, and other information system that experiences disruption. These technology advancements have made human activities to get more practical, faster, and easier. But technology disruption also poses challenges to university graduates due to the numerous jobs that were lost and replaced by machines.
“This issue becomes a challenge for us because currently jobs that are occupied by workers, bankers, and lecturers, may soon be transforming into something else,” said Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., to 1,648 graduates of UGM in Grha Sabha Pramana on Wednesday (21/2). read more
