Specific course information
Brief description  :

This course contains the main cause of road pavement structure damage; definition and classification of road pavement, comprehension in characteristic and performance of asphalt aggregate pavement (flexible pavement) and cement aggregate pavement (rigid pavement); comprehension in the pavement construction process at each stage of road construction: preservation, rehabilitation, reconstruction and new road construction; stages of implementation and quality control process of pavement; rock material supply process; aggregate grains formation process; implementation of Job Mix Formula (JMF) and introduction to field equipment for field trial; field equipment performance control; material technology and road pavement preservation equipment; productivity analysis, unit price, pavement construction cost components.

Specific goals of the course
Specific outcomes :
  1. The students are expected to be able to understand the root problem of road structural damage
  2. The students are expected to be able to understand quality characteristic and performance rating indicator of asphalt aggregate pavement (flexible pavement) and cement aggregate pavement (rigid pavement).
  3. The students are expected to be able to understand the pavement construction process systematically and comprehensively.
  4. The students are expected to be able to understand the interaction of pavement construction components to the negative impacts, also adaptation and environmental effect mitigation on site.
Student outcomes : (e) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve civil engineering problems by considering local resources
