Brief description :

This course contains the relationship between transportation and other disciplines; Importance and definition of transportation system, transportation network, transportation facilities and infrastructures (land, river, crossing, sea, and air); Relationship between transportation and environment; Relationship between transportation and technology; Comprehension in public transportation, freight transportation; Examples of the implementation of urban transportation; Comprehension in multimodal transportation and sustainable transportation.

Specific goals of the course
Specific outcomes :

The students are expected to be able to understand the meaning of transportation and acquire knowledge in transportation, which is environmental friendly, efficient, and sustainable.

Student outcomes :
  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve civil engineering problems by considering local resources
  2. An ability to communicate effectively
  3. Knowledge of contemporary issues in civil engineering

  1. Transportation system and network
  2. Definition, role, and issues of urban and rural transport
  3. Public transport, service concept and operational management
  4. Basic principle of transportation planning in general
  5. Development of transportation in Indonesia and its role in supporting economic activities and population mobility
  6. Definition and role of road and rail, air, river, lake, sea, and crossing transport
  7. Concept of intramodal and intermodal transport
  8. Introduction to road safety
  9. Environmental and energy aspects of transportation
  10. Concept of technology use, regulation, and human resources of transportation
  11. Urgency and classification of freight transport, freight management, logistic concepts and simple analysis for determining the logistic docks.
