Specific course information
Brief description :

This course contains the types of bridges, bridge structure components, and bridge loading (highway andn railway). Design of concrete girder bridge (reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete). Steel-concrete composite bridge design. Steel truss bridge design.

Prerequisite Courses : None
Required/ elective : Elective
Studio work : N/A
Laboratory work : N/A
Specific goals of the course
Specific outcomes : The students are expected to be able to understand the design of highway bridge superstructure, from bridge deck plate to load bearing main structure, for concrete girder bridge, steel frame bridge, and steel-concrete composite bridge.
Student outcomes : (c) An ability to design a system, component, or process in order to be able to face the real constraints in economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability

(e) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve civil engineering problems by considering local resources

(j) Knowledge of contemporary issues in civil engineering

(k) An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools for civil engineering practice

Brief list of topics to be covered :
  1. Description and types of bridges
  2. Bridge planning process
  3. Upper and lower structures
  4. Loading on the bridge
  5. Applications on beam-plates bridge component
  6. Bridge application with t-birder
  7. Double steel bridge
  8. Lower structure (abutments, pillars and foundations)
  9. Plotting
  10. Expansion joint
  11. Implementation and analysis of i-girder bridge structure (precast-prestress)
  12. Abutment planning
  13. Analysis of bridge structures due to earthquake (SNI-2008 and SNI-2016)
