Brief description | : | This course contains general introduction (problems and application of soil mechanics), soil and its formation process, index properties (water content, specific gravity, unit weight, void ratio, degree of saturation, grain size analysis, Atterberg’s limit) and classification (BS, ASTM, AASHTO), compacting (laboratory & field, density control in the field), soil stress, seepage (permeability, laboratory and field permeability test; layered soil/ anisotropic, flownet, seepage pressure, seepage at soil embankment, filter), introduction to soil shear stress. |
