International Symposium of Transportation: The 20th FSTPT and The 1ST ISTSDC Joint Symposium 2017

The symposium organized competition between undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. There were 316 papers in the field of transportation from all universities in Indonesia. UGM students became the winner in the transportation race.

For Doctoral Student category:

Civil Engineering Team of UGM Win the 1st Prize at Dynamic Load Bridge Competition ITS

Dynamic Load Bridge Competition is one of the various events series at ITS Civil Expo 2017 held by the Civil Engineering Student Association of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh, Surabaya. The theme was “Lightweight Bridge that is solid, environmental-friendly, with Indonesian archipelagic vision”, and the maximum bridge loading is 100 kg. This year, Team of Cita Sandya VIII Universitas Gadjah Mada had the opportunity to get to the Final after passed the stage of paper examination. This team consists of Agustinus Sri Pandu (DTSL 2015), Rahmat Gusdian (DTSL 2015), and Yendri Maryesi N (DTSL 2016).

Final session of Dynamic Load Bridge Competition was held on 27 – 30 September 2017 at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh, Surabaya. The competition starts on 27 September 2017 with Technical Meeting followed by all contestants who were qualified for the final stage of the competition. On September 28, 2017 was a session for presentation of bridge planning, and continued with bridge making session on September 29, 2017. The bridge loading test session was created on 30 September 2017. There were eight teams in the final round, i.e. Universitas Gadjah Mada, Politeknik Negri Jakarta, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, and Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana

On September 28, 2017, a presentation session was held. Team from Universitas Gadjah Mada University got the 10 minutes presentation session and 20 minute of question and answer session. On 30 September 2017 evening, the awarding and closing ceremony were held with the announcement of the winner. On this occasion, Team of Cita Sandya VIII successfully became the first Winner and winner of “the Most Implemented Construction” category.

[09:24, 10/11/2017] Sinta Tsipil: I was selected to be one of 1000 Talents representatives of 129 countries which was selected from 10,000 registrants worldwide, to join the 1st UNLEASH Lab Innovation (http://unleash.org) in Denmark, from 13-21 August 2017, held by more than 200 Execution Partners from several international organizations, multinationals and academics, such as UNDP, UNFPA, World Economic Forum, Vestas, Microsoft, etc.
UNLEASH is an incubator forum which gathers Talents from around the world to discuss, collaborate, and innovate solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. There were 7 themes: Education & ICT, Energy, Food, Health, Sustainable Consumption & Production, Urban Sustainability, and Water. The participants should provide process of making innovation solutions, which consisted of 5 phases: Problem Framing, Ideation, Prototyping & Sketching, Testing & Refining, and Implementing.
Being one of the 10 youngest talents, (age between 20-35 years old) is not easy. This event give a lot of knowledge and experience, also there were many new things to learn.

Bridge Team of UGM Winner 2nd on NTU Bridge Design Competition 2016

Community bridge UGM won the champion 2 NTU Bridge Design Competition 2016, held at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Saturday-Sunday (March 19 to 20 in 2016). This bridge competitions organized by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and followed by various countries in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
In this competition the bridge UGM team was represented by three teams and each – each team was represented by two students. The students compete as representatives of Indonesia. They are daughter Shahida Firdaus, Sandy Kang (Team Gama Bridge), Bagus Raka Panuntun, Muwafiqurrahhman Prabowo (Team CS Bridge) and Ika Rahmawati Suyanto, Surya Dewi Puspitasari (Tim Almond Blossom). All of these students are from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Muwafiq said that in this competition there are two categories contested, namely the category of universities and polytechnics. In each category the bridge must have a value of beauty and able to withstand a load of – the magnitude and the participant must provide the best possible presentation and answered questions – questions from the jury in order to win the game. “All teams compete vigorously and get the best results in accordance with effort and preparation that has been done,” he added.

Team CS Bridge of Indonesia won the second in the university category. “These results should be thankful as well as a performance evaluation for the next team. In the future may be a trigger of the bridge UGM team in order to achieve optimal results in every competition, “said Raka.

Cakrabuana Team of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering FT. UGM winner 2nd place in the Bridge Build Competition “Creativity Karya Nusantara Bridge” in 2016

Cakrabuana Team of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering FT. UGM won second place in the Bridge Build Competition “Creativity Karya Nusantara Bridge” in 2016 which took place at the Jakarta State Polytechnic, Thursday, March 24, 2016. The evaluation criteria include: proposal, robustness, implementation, heavy structure, innovation, aesthetics, and working time models bridge , The team is represented by Panji Ginaya Taufik (2013), Raka Agus Panuntun (2013), Dyah Nur Saints (2013).

In addition to a predicate Second, Tim Cakrabuana DTSL also got the sturdiest bridge Champion category. This was achieved after a bridge model lightest weight design results reached with the ability to withstand the greatest loads.

The 1st Winner of The Competition Analysis of Potential Problems High Speed Rail (HSR) Jakarta–Bandung Line

Department of Civil Engineering, University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) again won the title. This time the team of Yahya Kemal F. (2013), Yogie Andrianto H. (2013), and Dhirta Parera A. (2013) earned a first prize in a competition in “Analysis of Potential Problems of High Speed Rail (HSR) Jakarta- Bandung Line “. The race is organized by the University of Jakarta Tarumanagara This is a series of Civil National Expo (CNE) in 2016. The team was led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ahmad Munawar, M.Sc .; Prof. Dr. Tech. Ir. Danang Parikshit, M.Sc .; Dr. Eng. Imam Muthohar, ST .; Ir. Djoko Murwono, M.Sc.

Department of Civil Engineering UGM actually send three teams in this race event, but only selected one team the opportunity to attend the final round in Jakarta. The final round is a paper presentation sessions conducted at the University College Building G Tarumanagara Jakarta on Friday (10/6). In this round, five teams will be given the opportunity to present ideas and those who have them write down on paper in the qualification round. The presentation was held in front of a jury consisting of Prof. Ir. Suryo Leksmono Putranto, M.T., Ph.D. and Dr. Ir. Najid, M.T.

The team from the Department of Civil Engineering, Gadjah Mada University raised about the potential for HSR that will affect the various aspects of society, a variety of potential problems to arise in the mode of operation of HSR, as well as offer solutions to these problems.

In problem areas, they expose their doubts about the possibility of not showed interest in this HSR mode. It is based on the characteristics of the traveling public that existed at the Jakarta-Bandung. Possible loneliness enthusiasts will impact on the emergence of the potential losers in this HSR operation. The analysis is accompanied by a comparison between the value of investments PT Kereta Quick Indonesia China with an investment in the Bank by relying on bank fixed deposits. In this comparison, it can be seen that the making of investments held by the four State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in PT KCIC may not be the right choice.

After a round of presentations ended, on Saturday (11/6) held a Seminar on High Speed Rail Jakarta-Bandung which closed with the announcement of the winners of the CNE, 2016. At the contest Analysis of Potential Problems High Speed Rail (HSR) Jakarta-Bandung winning sequence obtained as follows :

Gamahidro Team Civil Engineering UGM 1st Winner Dam Competition Innovation Contest 2016

Gamahidro team consists of three students of Civil Engineering UGM, which Hadid Widiantoro, Rizky Dhewandaru, and Eldiansyah Mahendra won first prize in the race Dam Innovation Contest at the University of Diponegoro. The event was held on 6-7 November 2016 in Semarang.

At the start of the competition, the participants were asked to submit proposals containing race dam design concept complete with all the necessary calculations. Then elected four finalists who made it through to the next stage and were invited to Semarang to present the work that has been delivered complete with a model of a design model designed. Besides UGM, three other teams from the University of Diponegoro who successfully passed the 2 teams and one team from the Bandung Institute of Technology. After the presentation, the finalists are given a few questions by 3 jury and given a case study related to dam failure.

On the following day, the finalists are required to attend the expo organized by the committee for showing the work of each finalist. The visitors who come presented the results of work of the finalists was very impressive. Then visitors can give a vote at the expo for the work that interests them. The results of this vote is also used as an assessment to determine the champion.

“The innovations that we provide is the dam that is friendly to the people of Indonesia. Typically, a dam in Indonesia is very closed and not just anyone who can get into the dam area. Here we make a dam as a vehicle for education and entertainment for the community to build a restaurant on the body of the dam and take advantage of water storage reservoirs as a medium for the conservation of freshwater fauna threatened with extinction, “Hadid said, Sunday (7/11) at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Diponegoro ,
Hadid added, because the dam is located on the border designed Majalengka regency and Sumedang district, top of the dam will be made the highway that connects the two districts and provided also pedestrian street for visitors.

“In addition, the building hydroelectric plants located in the dam will be our traditional house designs like West Java, which Kesepuhan Cirebon. Why? Because the dam is still in the area of Cirebon Sultanate and also as a tourist attraction on this dam, “he explained.
