The inaugural edition of Virtual Penang Smart City Camp 2022 (P-SMACC) 2022 raises the challenges from central themes of UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG 2030) for young engineers. This year’s edition, P-SMACC, will focus on SDG#9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure) and SDG#11 (Sustainable cities & communities). This virtual camp will offer students a broader perspective on Smart city issues and several solutions, such as changing societal behaviour and adopting suitable technology to tackle numerous sustainable smart city problems, especially in the post-pandemic era.
The Virtual Penang Smart City Camp 2022 (P-SMACC) 2022 is jointly organized by the Academic Affairs, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang (UiTMCPP), Malaysia, in collaboration with the College of Engineering of UiTMCPP. We envisage that the synergized effort of multi-disciplinary engineering students from diverse countries may elevate this central theme into sustainable and practical solutions in the near future.
The learning outcome of this course is:
- Students will be exposed to the current global problems of sustainable smart cities and propose a suitable solution to tackle those problems.
- Students will be exposed to how to choose appropriate technology based on engineering discipline to solve the current problem of smart cities.
- Students will be able to understand societal involvement’s role in applying suitable technologies to achieve the SDGs related to sustainable smart cities.
- Students will be able to formulate the sustainable smart city challenges in their home country and identify the concrete steps to find solutions from technology and societal aspects.
Aforementioned above, we cordially invite the dearest prospective students from any nationality to join this virtual camp from 10-21 October 2022. Various speakers from academics, industries and governmental organizations will share their thoughts and insights on these topics with the participants.
